Why It’s Important To Have a Buyer Lined Up for Your Hemp
Today we’ll talk a little about why it’s important for you, as a hemp farmer, to have a buyer lined up for your product. Having a buyer means you know where your product is going when it’s finished growing and out of your hands. If you don’t have a buyer lined up, how will you get your harvested hemp off your hands?
There are a few reasons why having a plan for this step is important. First, you grow crops to make money. Second, having a buyer is an essential part of any business plan, And, third, if you don’t have a buyer, you can’t succeed at growing hemp, no matter how good your crops turn out!
You Want to Make Money
You want to be making money from any crop you grow. If you don’t have a buyer lined up for your hemp crop, you’re not growing for profit. Not knowing what you’re going to do with your finished crop is essentially just gambling. We always say that you shouldn’t invest more into growing hemp than you can afford to lose. However, if you don’t line up a buyer early in your planning, you’re already setting yourself up for failure.
What’s Your Business Plan
We inquire about your business plan when we talk on the phone or in-person to coach and support you as you enter the hemp industry. We want to hear about the size of your grow, whether you’ll grow indoor or outdoor, what end product you’ll aim for, and whether you’ll grow one or multiple varieties. One of the most important questions we’ll ask is, “Who is your buyer?” We aren’t going to contact your buyer, and we don’t need to know exactly who it is, but it’s absolutely essential that you have a buyer. If you don’t, the rest of your business plan is irrelevant.
Too many people in this past year have successfully grown a hemp crop for biomass or smokeable flower and have not known what to do with it after it was finished. That product is doing no good sitting in your garage or barn! It needs to be in processing or passed on to the end buyer as soon as possible. Without a buyer lined up, the profit you hope to make is just sitting untouched, costing you money.
Without a Buyer Lined Up, You Won’t Succeed
We want your industrial hemp grow to be a flourishing and lucrative business for you. But we fear that if you don’t have a buyer lined up early in the game, you won’t succeed. Unless you’re growing hemp for research or some other purpose, you can’t succeed without someone to buy your product. While we want to do everything we can to help our customers, Superior Hemp Clones can’t sell your finished product. We aim to coach and support our customers, and one of the best pieces of advice we can give you is to line up a trustworthy buyer well before you begin growing hemp.
Considering who your buyer will be is a key component to calculating the value of your hemp crop.
