Top 3 Things to Sell This Summer
Now that the hot, lazy days of August are almost here, it’s time to think about what you can sell this summer!
Succulents
Succulents are still popular, and we do not see the trend wavering anytime soon! Since these plants are so heat-tolerant, they’re a great product to stock in the summer. Carry multiple arrangements of succulents ranging in size for the best selection. Remember, creative containers boost sales. Read more about that in our blog!
Houseplants/Foliage
We’ve seen an increasing demand for foliage and houseplants. Quarantine had everyone stuck in their houses and yards, which exposed the need for plants. We expect the love of plants to stick around, so make sure you have houseplants in stock! And don’t forget to label them as such! Signage increases sales by clarifying what products are and what they can do. Make sure your customers can clearly see which plants are houseplants and what benefits each plant has. With the heat keeping people indoors, houseplants that keep the air in your home clean should be easy to sell this summer.
What Else Can You Sell This Summer?: Yourself
Now is the time to let people know you are there by revamping your website and marketing. You don’t have to spend money to make your website look nice, and you don’t have to spend money to market yourself. Start with your website. If you don’t have one already, you can build one for free! Check out WordPress or Wix. If you’re allowing customers to purchase products from your website, you can also look into having a Square storefront.
Make sure your website clearly states what you offer to your customers in an easy-to-find area. You want to make things as clear and simple as possible for your customer. They’ll enjoy their shopping process so much more when they understand what they’re doing. Next, take a look at your products. Add any new products that aren’t on your website and delete any you may have stopped carrying. Then update pictures as needed and update any descriptions and pricing.
Once your website is up-to-date, head over to social media. Do your profile pictures need updating? What about the profile bios? Do they clearly convey what you do? Imagine someone who has never heard about your business stumbling across your business profile. After reading your account bio, will they understand what products or services you provide? If not, it needs to be changed.
Lastly, post consistently to social media. Even if you don’t have a lot going on, continue to be present and in front of their faces. Maybe host some product giveaways to boost business. Or post fun, aesthetically pleasing pictures. Even if you’re not making a sale with those pictures, you are building a relationship with your customer so that they will enjoy seeing your name in their feed.
