How You Can Maintain a Social Media Presence in the Off-Season
When the heat hits, sales seem to slow down. If you haven’t felt it already, you may begin to see your sales decrease soon. During the slowest time of the year, it’s easy to let your social media presence slip, but if you’re not remaining active, it can take you months to get back onto your customer’s news feeds. Not staying active now can affect your Holiday sales.
Continue posting daily if you can, but at minimum, post three times a week. Make sure you like or respond to all comments you receive, and comment on different things while signed in as your page. This activity will show that you are interacting with your audience, and they are interacting with you.
We know it’s difficult to make posts when you have nothing to sell. We’ve been there! Here are our recommendations on what to post when you have no products to promote.
Share behind the scenes weekly:
We assume you’re using this downtime to clean out your greenhouse and update your website. Share the new updates with your audience to show them what’s going on.
Share memes:
Sharing plant memes or other relevant memes to your page can boost interaction. If you’re wondering what memes are, they are basically just a relatable internet image. Usually, they have text over an image relating to what’s going on in people’s lives, like this:
Share information about your shop:
When you don’t have any products to promote, promote yourself! Share information about how your business began, why you’re in business, how your process works, or how you benefit your community.
If your business is mainly local, share events:
Remind your customers that you are local by sharing events that are happening in your shared area. If you attend any events, post a selfie. This brings a personal element to your business and makes your shop more approachable.
Take polls:
Poll your audience on what type of plants your customers like or what products they’d like for you to add to your listing. Polls will give you an opportunity to talk to your customers and hear directly from them.
Join in on social media trends:
Reels are very popular right now. Both Facebook and Instagram have tools to help you create a reel using elements that are trending. See our video linked in the description to learn more about creating your own reels.
Post growing tips:
Posting growing tips for the plants you sell is a great way to remind your customers what you sell, reach new customers who happen across your growing tips, and establish yourself as a plant expert in the community.
Remember the key to social media is consistency. We hope this list of suggestions can help you build a variety of posts to share on your pages so you can easily maintain your social media presence.
