What is an Ellepot Tray?

Ellepot trays are made of a blended soil media formulated for propagation and germination, which is wrapped in biodegradable paper and inserted into trays. The wrapping process is performed by our machines on-site.

We use a combination of Peat, Perlite, and nutrients in our soil. You can learn more about the soil we use from the manufacturer

Since the wrapping is biodegradable, the Ellepot paper doesn’t need to be removed from the plug prior to planting. However, some customers choose to remove the paper for plants with genetically weak root systems.

Why Are Ellepot Trays Better Than Loose-filled?

Ellepot germination trays are a better addition to your greenhouse supplies than traditional loose-filled trays or plastic containers. They provide a faster rooting time, better soil aeration, and less stress when it comes time for transplanting.

The biodegradable paper does not need to be removed before planting, which can help reduce transplant shock and make planting in final containers faster. Ellepot trays ship better than traditional ones as well. These liners are also an environmentally friendly solution for the greenhouse industry as opposed to plastic containers.

How to Use These Liners in Your Greenhouse

Ellepot trays are great for any plants you want to germinate or propagate in your greenhouse. 105-count trays are most common and work well for most annuals. 72-count trays work well for larger annuals and can also be used for hemp germination. 72-count deep trays are primarily used for hemp germination.

Be aware that, like with any blended soil, the peat moss in your Ellepots may grow a grey mold called Trichoderma spp., which is harmless and a sign that the soil is rich with organic material. You can use fungicide to treat it, but most growers ignore it and let it die away on its own.

We offer 72-count trays of 30 mm or 105-count trays of 25 mm Ellepots. We ship all year in cases of 10 trays, and we also custom build pallets of up to 300 trays.
